To say briefly, no problem should be there to boot from a USB drive even if the HD has gone away.ģ. When booting in a USB Pen drive, HD doesn't come in play for the boot part at least. Did you do that ? Is the BIOS configured to boot from UEFI or Legacy or BOTH ? What options are given in the boot menu & what you chose from there to boot into the UEFI pen drive ?Ģ. Then it looks on the hard disk for boot which is already not able to boot.ĭid you ever make any changes in / to BIOS Setup during or before trouble / troubleshooting ? What was the Legacy thing, you were talking about ? What options you chose to prepare the pen drive Legacy, UEFI or ? I asked you to prepare the boot media for UEFI ONLY. but not configured properly on your part or according to the BIOS Setup. I see the scenario as : The pen drive is being looked for the boot files, etc. Green light on USB runs for about a minute then goes out and get acer screen with circle going round. Made the rescue disc usb with rufus, selected to boot from it.
